01
The early risers in the hatchery
Long before a single shrimp swims in a pond, people have already been at work for months. At broodstock facilities, they care for the parent animals much like breeders look after their finest horses. In hatcheries, they check the larvae at three in the morning, because water temperature doesn't wait for anyone.
Tiny animals, huge responsibility. What is done well here shows months later in every single shrimp.
03
The minds behind the feed
Good feed is about far more than feeding. Behind it are people refining recipes with vitamins, minerals, algae and probiotics. They help the animals grow healthily, with as little waste as possible.
Without them, there would be no good shrimp and no sustainable aquaculture.
04
The farmers: the heart of it all
While we're having our first coffee of the day, they're already standing beside the pond. Measuring oxygen, testing the water, watching the animals and watching the sky. Seven days a week, through heat and monsoon.
One bad day can cost an entire harvest, and still they carry on, with knowledge you won't find in any book. Anyone who has ever stood beside a farmer at their pond eats shrimp differently afterwards. We certainly do.
05
The fishermen who read the sea
Wild-caught seafood begins with people who leave harbour before dawn and work with changing tides, weather and seasons. Their knowledge of the fishing grounds has been built over years, often across generations.
Responsible fishing depends on their judgement, selective methods and respect for the sea. They bring us products that cannot be farmed — and stories that begin far from shore.
06
The fastest hands in the world
Then there are the processing plants. Once you've seen how quickly and precisely shrimp are peeled, deveined, graded and packed, you never forget it. Thousands of shrimp, each one passing through the hands of people who have truly mastered their craft.
When you receive exactly the size, cut and packaging you ordered, you have them to thank.
07
Everyone you never see
The inspectors, laboratory teams, and the people in cold stores, on ships and in trucks. They make sure everything is checked, kept frozen and delivered to you on time.
They're part of the team, too.
